Stroller Class Q & A's

When can I start?

Once you have your Dr.’s OK to exercise and you are ready to commit to fitness.

How do I join the Hot Mamas?

It’s very easy, just check the schedule and location and show up 10 minutes prior to the class time.

When are classes held?

Our classes are held year-round, this is Colorado after all! We typically have class when it is 35 degrees (feels like) or warmer. The ground also has to be clear of ice or snow. However you should call the HM Hotline @ 303.296.2609 ext. 3, one hour prior to class time for an updated message confirming that  we are having class. Also check our announcements for the latest news and updates. Class Schedule

What do I need to bring?

Yourself, your baby and stroller, beach towel or mat and large water.

What if I am really out of shape?

Our trainers offer all the modifications you’ll need to help you feel challenged but not overworked. Don’t worry, we’ll help you get your body back (and get you into your best shape) -- you just need to show up.

Do I have to have a special stroller?

No. It just needs to be secure for your baby and provide protection from the elements.

What if my baby starts crying or wants to get out?

First of all, we’ve all been there – do what you feel is best. Some moms take the baby out, offer a pacifier or a toy. Toddlers respond well to snacks and bribery (we do prefer they stay in the stroller for their protection).

Please keep in mind that your instructor can not watch your child – but is always happy to assist you if needed.

What if I have a past injury or condition?

First check with your physician, then advise your instructor and she will give you the proper modifications.

What happens during class?

We run and jump, do lots of leg work, upper body strengthening, abs and functional exercises. We sweat a lot but we’re smiling.

How often should I attend class?

Twice a week or more would be great – if you want to see results, you need to show up consistently.

What should I wear?

A supportive bra and layers that you can shed as the class progresses. You should also have sneakers with good support. Check out our links for ideas on where to find things.

My child?

Layers as well, hats, gloves and blanket. One of my original Hot Mamas swears by a hot water bottle!

What if I'm breast-feeding? Does exercise do anything to my breast milk?

Exercise does not affect the amount or quality of breast milk you produce, and will not affect your baby if you’re breastfeeding. Rarely, in some women, intense exercise will cause an increase in lactic acid in breast milk and the baby may not like the taste.

If your baby does not feed well after you’ve done intense exercise:

- slow down
- feed your baby before exercising
- express breast milk before exercising to give to your baby after you exercise
- try feeding again a little later.

Remember—your milk is still good for your baby.
